The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 are the first mid-range Samsung phones that are eligible for three major Android upgrades. Samsung launched Galaxy A51 and A71 with Android 10-based One UI 2.1 software, while the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 will also be available for these devices.
Back in August 2020, the South Korean tech giant announced its new Android and One UI updates policy. It promised three major OS upgrades for flagships launched with Android 9 Pie as well as mid-range phones including the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71.

In 2021, Samsung released Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update for these devices, followed by Android 12-based One UI 4.1 this year. Both devices are currently receiving regular security patches, while Samsung is cooking the latest OS on top of One UI 5.0 which will bring various new features.

At the Samsung Developer Conference, Samsung launched One UI 5.0 software, designed on top of Android 13 operating system. It’s officially coming to Galaxy S22 series this month, while Galaxy A51 and A71 users have to wait for a few months as flagships are in company’s priority.
The Galaxy A51, A71, A52 and A72 devices are eligible for three Android upgrades, while, Samsung further expanded the OS support to four years, but, for the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 devices. Therefore, the One UI 5.0 is going to be the last fruitful upgrade for the A51 and A71 consumers.
Samsung has not yet revealed when it will provide the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update to various devices. This year, there’s no possibility for the Galaxy A51 and A71 devices to get their last major upgrade, but, Samsung could amaze consumers with an early rollout.

Improved Light Balance
Light Balance literally means the balance of light. This function adjusts the balance of brightness to the mid-tones in the image. This feature ensures visibility and balances brightness by making very dark areas slightly brighter and very bright areas slightly darker.
When we increase the (+) value, the light balance effect is adjusted to make the overall image brighter and more clear, while we increase the (-) value, the overall image becomes darker such as casting a shadow.
The Light Balance function is currently only available for photo editing and will be soon supported by Video Editor.
Sharpness Improvement
Sharpness is a feature that edits blurry photos to make them sharper. Although it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with light, it does involve the power of light.
Brighten the brightest point of the photo that bringing out the texture, which has the effect of sharpening the photo. The sharpness enhancement applies to photo editing and video editing alike.
New Clarity Feature
Clarity is a new feature of the latest One UI 5.1 update. Alike the Sharpness function, the Clarity function applies the effect of lighting rather than changing it. This function makes bright areas of an image slightly brighter and dark areas slightly darker to enhance the texture or three-dimensional effect of the image. In One UI 5.1, Clarity is only available for photo editing, but the company is planning to release this feature to the Video Editor.
