Samsung Android 12 update brings these latest features with One UI 4.0
On November 15, Samsung announced the official launch of the One UI 4, which will be the first of its rollout on the Galaxy S21 series which includes the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 +, and Galaxy S21 Ultra starting today.
With new customization options, privacy features, and access to Samsung’s ever-growing ecosystem, the One UI 4 brings a superior mobile experience that puts you in control.
This software update brings the latest Android OS 12 and One UI 4.0 with new features, as well as advanced customization capabilities and privacy capabilities that give you control over many features and allow you to create your own advanced mobile experience.
Samsung One UI 4 (Android 12) Features
Wallpapers
In addition to the ability to select from installed and downloaded wallpapers, you can now select different color themes based on the colors of your wallpaper. Select a color theme from Backgrounds>Color theme>Select your favorite color theme>Select Done.
Widgets
Home screen widgets redesigned. The new widget list layout, it gives you more information at a glance and allows you to customize and decorate your home screen in your own way.
You will find helpful widget suggestions.
Weather widget: A dynamic weather widget has been added to the selection. Changes the background color of the widget depending on the weather or time.
- Lock screen widgets have a simple design.
- Monthly calendar views will be displayed if you select Current Program under Widget Settings.
Quick Panel
Manage brightness more comfortably with a large light bar on the quick panel. The “Media” button name has been changed to “Media Output”.
If you select Media Output, it leads you to the Media panel. The media panel structure has been redesigned with a simple view.
Samsung Keyboard
Display toolbar
With the advanced toolbar, you can find your emoji, GIFs, stickers and more directly on the keyboard. Self-expression is just around the corner. Select a smiley face from the top of your keyboard to access additional expressions.
For example, when you start a new chat in the messaging app using the Samsung keyboard, select a smiley face, choose any stickers or GIFs you can add to your messages, or create your own emoji by selecting Try it out.
You can create your own emoji using two different emotions. Select Find more stickers if you want to view more emojis. Follow the steps to complete creating your own emoji, then you can add it to your messages.
- Select + Speech Toolbar to access additional stickers.
- You can also select Get More Stickers to download new animated stickers to the Galaxy Store.
Suggest text editing
In addition to spell checking, Samsung’s keyboard also supports language correction. English grammatical errors and phrases that can be improved are marked with a green and alternate underline, Grammarly-sponsored.
- You can also stop Grammarly by going to Samsung Keyboard settings> Suggest text editing> Select Grammarly.
Share Sheet
A suggested upgrade option will be provided when you try to share an image on a sharing sheet. Based on image analysis, the following recommendations can be suggested based on image quality: Align, Crop, Tilt, and Rotate.
For example, cropping is suggested in the image below in the sharing sheet.
Camera
Enjoy a simple, clear preview structure that shows only the information you need.
In image mode:
- The lens icon is displayed by default magnification.
- The zoom bar and shortcuts show the current expansion clearly.
- In Pro mode, the lens icon is updated in the lens name.
Advanced Quick Capture: Recording hands-free quick capture is achieved by long-pressing the lock button, then dragging it to the lock icon.
Single Take
- The option to extend the time is provided during the shoot to avoid missing important moments.
- Shooting options are enhanced with a predictable and accurate design and design of each option.
Photo Editor and Video Editor
Photo Editor: Enjoy a simple, clear structure that gives a focused editing experience.
Video Collection: With the support of the new video collage, you can now create photos, videos and photos with video collages. Additionally, you can also turn on / off the volume of each video in collages.
Video Editor: A harmless video editing format is supported as an image editor. After editing the video, you have the option to go back to the original version or save a copy of the edited video.
Gallery
Many options are available for filtering albums. Select More to see these options. You can now set the date, time, and location for selected photos and videos. Additionally, the “create new” Gallery has been redesigned so that we have more information about your options.
Digital Wellbeing
Keep your eyes on the road with the new Driving Monitor under Digital Wellbeing. Daily and weekly trends are offered over the last 28 days.
Device Care
The big screen shows battery and security issues. Click Optimize now to prepare for use and solve problems easily.
Privacy
Easily check which applications have access to sensitive permissions such as location, camera, microphone, etc., in permission usage history. You can easily close permissions. A green dot will appear in the upper right corner of the screen when the app accesses the camera and/or microphone permission. By accessing the instant panel, you can easily view applications that access the camera and microphone.
Charging
A new visual charging effect will be provided when you start charging.

One UI 4.1 Features
Similarly, One UI 4.1 could add some polish to One UI 4.0 once it debuts with the Galaxy S22 series in February. We’re hoping for things like better virtual RAM management, better wallpaper-based color theme integration with Google apps, and more.
As the One UI 4.1 is a minor upgraded version of the One UI 4.0, which was introduced along with the Galaxy S22 series.
Better customization
First of all, the One UI 4.1 Galaxy Experience Film begins with introducing improved customization capabilities and usability across Samsung devices. While One UI 4.0 already brings better interface customization as per the user’s choice, One UI 4.1 takes the experience to the next level.
New Camera Features
The Galaxy S22 series phones are said to highlight major Camera improvements for low light and night photography, thanks to even optimized hardware and software. Accordingly, the One UI 4.1 embeds enhancements to the native Camera app with a new feature – “Tap, Hold & Swipe” to lock video recording.
Pro Mode, optimized Camera with social platforms
One UI 4.1 extends the Pro Mode support on each Camera lens available on the Galaxy smartphone along with further improving the features and making them easier to use. Moreover, the phone’s photography features now work with in-app Cameras of Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.
Gallery access via One Drive
Aside from this, the One UI 4.1 lets Galaxy owners access the Gallery’s images and videos across devices, thanks to Samsung-Microsoft collaboration on One Drive.
One UI Tab 4
Just like the One UI Watch 3 operating system, Samsung debuted the One UI Tab 4 for its large screen devices such as the Galaxy Tabs. This software is likely to be based on Google’s upcoming Android 12L operating system for tablets and foldables, offering a better user experience with added productivity.

How to update
