The Galaxy Watch5 models are capable of monitoring BP (blood pressure) and ECG (electrocardiogram), while, Samsung is now unlocking these features for users in the Philippines. Thanks to the intelligent BioActive sensor, Galaxy Watch users can track their health status directly from the wrist.

How to use:

Blood Pressure

Install the Samsung Health Monitor application onto your Galaxy smartphone and connect it to your compatible Galaxy Watch5 then calibrate it with a traditional cuff. Voila, you can now measure the blood pressure on your smartwatch anytime, anywhere.

Do note that the Galaxy Watch5 measures blood pressure through pulse wave analysis, which is tracked with the Heart Rate Monitoring sensors. Then, the program records the relationship between the calibration value and the blood pressure change to determine BP.

Electrocardiogram

The ECG (electrocardiogram) feature works by recording the heart’s electrical activity through a sensor on the Galaxy Watch5. You just need to open the Samsung Health Monitor app, sit comfortably and ensure the watch is fitted firmly to your wrist.

Now, rest your forearm on a flat surface and lightly place a fingertip from the opposite hand on the top button on the watch for 30 seconds. Once done, the app will measure your heart rate and rhythm, which will be displayed as either a Sinus Rhythm (a normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (when the heart beats irregularly).

Original story published on March 12.

The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic was the last Samsung smartwatch that brought a physical rotating bezel feature. The company later ditched the Classic branding in favor of Pro for the Galaxy Watch 5 lineup, which also killed that much-loved physical rotating bezel.

According to the latest info, the next-gen premium Samsung smartwatch could bring back the physical rotating bezel. Korean tipster @SuperRoader revealed that the Galaxy Watch 6 Pro would introduce the physical rotating bezel feature, which might be seeing disappointment from consumers.

Like earlier, the top model will exclusively bring the rotating bezel, while the vanilla variant will offer the same experience digitally. Moreover, it’s reported that the Galaxy Watch 6 Pro will be available in two sizes so consumers can buy the best-sized model, as per preference.

Launch?

The South Korean tech giant is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 6 along with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 smartphones. The company may hold its next big event sometime in August or September 2023, while an official announcement is too away to happen.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 packs bigger battery, eyes on Pro

Published

Samsung Watch 5 Body composition US

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 could come with a bigger battery than its predecessor. The company appears to be focussing on the development of new products that will be unveiled at August Unpacked. However, folks over at GalaxyClub spotted the battery unit of Samsung’s next smartwatch.

According to the information, the standard Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 packs a bigger battery than the Galaxy Watch 5. The company has reportedly submitted the battery to South Korea’s certification authority, and the document reveals a worthy upgrade.

Samsung has also got certification for both of the submitted batteries, which bear model numbers SM-R93x and SM-R94x. Different model numbers refer to different variants (sizes) of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch.

It has been revealed that the Galaxy Watch 6 40mm battery (EB-BR935ABY) has a typical capacity of 300 mAh, while the rated capacity is 295 mAh. Pay attention, the vanilla Galaxy Watch 5 features a battery with a typical capacity of 285mAh and a rated capacity of 276mAh.

On the flip side, the 44mm variant’s battery appears to have a typical capacity of 425 mAh, and a rated capacity is 412 mAh. Notably, the Galaxy Watch 5’s 44mm model’s battery has a typical capacity of 410 mAh and a rated capacity of 397 mAh.

Since the Korean tech giant is bringing bigger batteries with its next-generation wearable devices, the upgrade is not too big. Still, it can be seen as a significant change as the company strictly follows the policy of maintaining the size, thickness, and appearance of Galaxy devices.

Eyes on Watch 6 Pro

Earlier, it was revealed that Samsung is taking inspiration from Apple Watch and Google’s Pixel Watch to design its Galaxy Watch 6. As per leaks, the upcoming wearable device(s) may bring a curved glass display, ditching the flat panels.

Galaxy Watch 5 Pro should also get a sequel as Apple already brought the Watch Ultra with an eye-watering price. The Pro model should also come with a bigger battery and enhanced hardware to deliver better health features and long-lasting performance.
