Reliable Samsung source @SamsonUpdate shared exclusive information with us that you should know. According to the source, the Fast Pair feature will be introduced with the Galaxy S23 series. And notably, it will not be included in the One UI 5.1 update for previously released Galaxy devices.

In the Setup Wizard, it will allow to scan a QR code and automatically transfer from an old device a number of credentials for items including Google and Samsung accounts, saved Wi-Fi networks. It requires Bluetooth Low Energy to work, made for S23 and future models.#OneUI5.1

One UI 5.1 brings Android’s Fast Pair-derived feature to the Galaxy S23’s Setup Wizard. In an APK teardown, 9to5Google found that Google could introduce Android’s Fast Pair feature to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. This feature is derived from iOS, which allows you to pair all the first-party accessories (Watches, Tags) without customizing system settings such as Bluetooth and NFC.

The Fast Pair feature of Android lets you quickly and easily pair accessories if you are unfamiliar with the phone or Bluetooth settings. To use the Fast Pair, you just need to turn on your newly purchased devices and bring the accessory close to it. Then, you will get a prompt, allowing you to complete the setup.

Over the years, Google is cementing its collaboration with the South Korean tech giant. Wear OS and One UI Watch operating system is the most recent example, while Samsung is already helping Google with Fuchsia OS development.

Hence, it’s not surprising to me at all if Google is debuting the Fast Pair feature with Samsung’s smartphone lineup. Most likely, the company may announce the expanded collaboration for the Fast Pair feature at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 1st.
