What’s new with Samsung Galaxy Android 13

Samsung introduced the Android 12-based One UI 4 software with no radical design and UI changes. However, Google did just the opposite as the Android 12 features the biggest user interface changes in history.

Similarly, Samsung is not bringing changes to the overall look of the One UI with the Android 13 upgrade for Galaxy devices. As speculated, the Stable version of the One UI doesn’t look like Google’s Android 13 OS.

The Public One UI 5 version, based on Android 13, brings more meaningful design upgrades, improvements to the existing features/functions, new add-ons, better 3rd party app performance, and a lot more.

Google revealed several new features of the Android 13 operating system, and all of them will surely reflect with the One UI 5 upgrade for the Galaxy devices, at the same time, we don’t have any info regarding One UI 5 features.

No doubt, Samsung Galaxy phones are unbeatable in the Android segment. On the flip side, Apple rules the second world without having any single competitor in iOS world. In some cases, iOS provides better experiences than Android, so if a Samsung Galaxy device run iOS 16, will you purchase it?

iOS 16 on Samsung Galaxy, it’s really a crazy question as it’s impossible to happen… We are sure, the Korean tech giant will never adopt the iOS operating system even if lefts as the last option. Instead, the company will build its own operating system tailor-made for Galaxy devices.

Android and iOS are just two opposite things. As there are a lot of possibilities in the Android operating system, iOS offers only what Apple wants. The former is open-source software, while the latter is closed-source, meanwhile, the security and privacy level of iOS is really great compared to Android.

Just hope, if iOS run on a Samsung Galaxy, the smartphone will become a superphone. With the world’s leading hardware installation and most-secure operating system, the device will become unbeatable. BTW, it’s also impossible to flash iOS operating system or custom ROM on a non-iPhone device.

Samsung Galaxy iOS

As the combination of Galaxy and iOS will never become reality, Samsung should develop its own operating system for the devices. The company has the largest share of Android devices worldwide, it can be further expanded with tailor-made secure and reliable software.

iOS

iOS runs on all Apple iPhone devices and packs useful features to keep the lead. As the operating system is completely limited to Apple labs, it becomes a quite difficult task to affect user data and privacy. Another advantage of exclusive software is that the company amazingly optimizes it with hardware of products.

Samsung Galaxy iOS

Android

Compared to iOS, the Android operating system has endless possibilities. Every year, Google introduces new major versions with user interface enhancements and privacy focused tools for better experiences. However, the open-source factor makes it easy to be hacked due to vulnerabilities.

One UI

Galaxy devices run the Android operating system, but Samsung installs One UI layer alongside. The One UI offers fastest security updates every month, additional privacy features such as Knox along with Android-inspired functions. As the reach of Samsung is growing rapidly, it’s right time to take a decision on Galaxy-exclusive OS.

Samsung has the largest share of the Android smartphone market, even its created by Google. After Google’s Pixel phones, plenty of Galaxy devices have also received the new Android 13 operating system update. Here, we are comparing the Dynamic (Themed) App Icons feature of Android 13 on Galaxy and Pixel.

The Korean phone maker uses Android operating system as a base for its One UI skin tailored for Galaxies. Compared to stock Android, the One UI debuts better user interface, visual effects, and system animations without leaving features of the base OS.

Android 13 – Galaxy vs Pixel

Talking about Android 13 Dynamic Themed App Icons on Galaxy and Pixel, I honestly like the way that Google adapted. Initially debuted with Android 12, the Material You design language works impressively on Google devices, compared to Samsung Galaxies. Here’s why I like Pixel… for just Themed Icons!

Join Sammy Fans on Telegram

Home Screen: One UI and Android, both, turn the App Icons into Dynamic Themed Icons, which match the home screen or lock screen wallpaper. Samsung placed it inside the Color Palette section, while, on Pixel, I found that the Themed icons feature is still in the Beta stage, hinting at the development stage.

Samsung Galaxy Google Pixel Home Screen Android 13

Apps Screen: Biggest difference between Galaxy and Pixel’s Themed Icons feature is area of implementation. On Samsung devices, compatible app icons turn to Themed icons on both home screen and lock screen. Google, on the other hand, applies Themed icons on just apps placed on home screen, keeping original icon in Apps screen.

Samsung Galaxy Google Pixel Apps Screen Android 13

Compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Pixel 7 Pro delivers an even optimized home screen appearance. It looks better as most of the Google apps are now compatible with dynamic icons. One UI 5’s Apps Screen doesn’t look good to me as it becomes a tough task to identify certain apps in a crowd of Apps screen.

Android 13 for Galaxy

Samsung debuted the Stable Android 13 update for Galaxy S22 series devices on October 24. With the new variant of Android, Galaxy devices get One UI 5 software skin that introduces exclusive user interface along with additional software-derived features.

Android 13 for Pixel

Google showcased the new Android 13 operating system way back in February when it availed it to Developers. In mid-August, the company delivered Stable Android 13 upgrade for all eligible Pixel smartphones, installing new features and functionalities.

Usually, Google brings new feature drop software updates to Pixel devices on a quarterly basis. Recently, Pixel devices received this year’s last December 2022 feature drop, which brings plenty of new stuff. However, Google’s new Clear Calls feature sounds promising, and I want Samsung to bring it to my Galaxy.

Amid the increasing popularity and functionalities of social media platforms, phone call still remains the best way of interaction. Google worked on this department and brought the Clear Calls feature to recently released Pixel 7 series smartphones, which makes the calling experience even better.

Follow Sammy Fans on Google News

According to Google, the new Clear Calls feature lets Pixel 7 and 7 Pro enhance the other caller’s voice and reduce their background noise. Notably, the feature works with the Tensor G2 chipset to allow users to hear other callers clearly even if they’re in a noisy place.

Join Sammy Fans on Telegram

As always, the Android maker noted some points for the Clear Calls feature including the availability variation as per carrier and region alongside dependency on the environment, carrier network conditions, and other factors, which are not mentioned in the official press release.

Samsung should also bring

Samsung has the biggest participation in the global market when it comes to Android smartphones. The company is already offering a number of features that makes Pixel phone users jealous. Meanwhile, Google’s new Clear Calls feature is ultimately making me a bit grudged and I want it in my Galaxy too!

Texting and video calling aside, the most used way of everyday interactions is regular phone calls, which don’t require an internet connection as well. Samsung should also research this area of mobiles and make worthy advancements in the quality of phone calls on Galaxies.

Meanwhile, it’s worth mentioning that the Clear Calls feature is developed for Tensor G2 devices, which showcases hardware requirements. Since older Pixel phones would not be getting the same treatment, we hope Samsung should set an example by debuting a better Clear Calls feature for Galaxy consumers.

Software update is a big deal for smartphone customers nowadays. In case you are wondering to purchase an Android smartphone, Samsung is undoubtedly the best choice in the market in almost every aspect. Meanwhile, a big group of Samsung fans spotted running ‘Update For All’ movement.

What does it mean?

Through the Update For All movement, fans are asking Samsung to follow Apple and Google’s strategy of providing software updates to all eligible phones at once, via SamsonUpdate. Staged rollout is Samsung’s traditional policy that it still maintaining even after keeping the crown of global market for years.

Follow Sammy Fans on Google News

Taking the recent past as example, Samsung started the Android 13 update rollout for the Galaxy S22 series on October 24. Initially, the update became available in a handful of European countries, while expansion to more and more markets is still underway.

Samsung Update For All

Going ahead, the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series flagships have started to get the Stable Android 13 update on November 7. The gap between One UI 5’s availability for the latest S22 and older S20/Note 20 flagships is approx two weeks.

Apple and Google giving

On the other hand, Apple fits for the Update For All strategy as all the eligible iPhones receive every new software update on the same day across the world. The same goes for Pixel, Google also updates all eligible Pixel phones with new firmware update together.

Advantage for Apple and Google

iOS is an iPhone-exclusive software system, which is solely developed by Apple. As the iPhone maker itself develops and tests new firmware updates for iPhones and other devices, it makes it capable of releasing it for all. Similarly, Android is also under full control of Google, at least for Pixel smartphones.

What’s the difficulty

We know, Galaxy devices run the Android operating system and Samsung is entirely dependent on Google. The former OEM has no other choice than to wait until Google begins Android’s new update rollout for Pixel phones, however, the gap between Android and One UI debut can be lessened if Samsung joins Developer Preview party.

Samsung’s capable, we know!

Samsung is the global market leader in smartphones with the highest shipments with reach to almost every corner of the Earth. The company is well known for users’ data privacy and security which China can never offer with its mobile devices.

If Galaxy users want “update for all,” Samsung should consider their demand as there’s nothing impossible for the OEM. To do so, Samsung should work with Google and develop the new OS-based One UI skin for all kinds of Galaxies so it can be distributed as well.

About movement: In the 24 hours poll on Twitter, among around 1500 voters, 94% are in favor of ‘Update For All.’ The poll is still live, you can do vote in the Twitter linked below.

The Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 14 lineup bring upgraded hardware, while the vanilla and Plus models have last year’s processor and camera sensors due to unknown reasons, possibly for the price reduction.

Over the innovations Apple introduced with iPhone 14 lineup, Samsung has been mocking it for a few days. After Buckle up and flip side ads, the company now criticized Apple through its Twitter posts, reacting on new devices.

September 16…

With its latest Flip Side Twitter post, Samsung US trolled Apple using the posts of users over iPhone and other Apple products for innovations. The company points out that there’s no update in the latest iPhone 14 models compared to the last year’s.

September 10…

Samsung US Tweeted that it is sharing its reactions to the “innovative” new devices announced on Wednesday. The first and second video clip mocks Apple with Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4, mentioning we’ve been flexing and folding for 2 years, 5 months and 20 days.

The fourth video clip showcases the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which features a giant 108MP camera sensor, teasing Apple for bringing a 48MP lens in Pro and Pro Max models in 2022, while Samsung introduced it in 2022 with S20 Ultra.

Samsung and Apple are the two major smartphone vendors worldwide. While Samsung leads the global smartphone market, Apple is the most beloved brand in the United States.

To lessen trolls on iPhone 14 models’ pill shape cutout, Apple managed to take the help of software and shifted some functionalities surrounding the display hole and named it Dynamic Island. As it’s quite new on smartphones, users are wishing that Android should adopt it or bring a similar feature.

A Samsung user also requested the One UI’s Beta moderator in the US community to bring a Dynamic Island-like function to add features around the hole punch. The user also pointed out that the company has disabled Good Lock’s Edge Lighting function that had allowed the display cutout customization.

The most interesting thing is that the Beta moderator pasted the same reply to the consumer’s report as he did on every feature report without thinking about its future impact. The moderator commented that the user’s suggestion has been communicated to the developer and the development project manager is reviewing the content.

“After reviewing your suggestions, we will apply them to the official version if your proposal matches our concept.”

Dynamic Island Samsung Galaxy

I’m sure, Samsung won’t bring any functionality like Dynamic Island as it’s approaching totally ditching the selfie camera home from Galaxy phone’s displays. So far, the company released two UDC phones namely Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 with significant improvements.

Once the under-display camera feature gets matured, Samsung will surely introduce it with its flagship Galaxy S series phones. We expect the Galaxy S24 or S24 Ultra (tentative name) could feature the under-display camera for a full-view display experience.

Dynamic Island, on the other hand, looks presents a whole new feel to users but it’s not an innovation. No doubt, developers and modders might have started working to create a similar function for the Android OS and it could be available in the future through custom ROMs.
