Samsung has now started rolling out the second Android 13/One UI 5-based firmware update for the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra smartphone users, which brings the November 2022 security patch.
Users will be able to identify the Samsung November 2022 security patch via software versions – G991BXXS5DVK1, G996BXXS5DVK1, and G998BXXS5DVK1 for Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, respectively.

About a week ago, Samsung pushed the Stable Android 13 update for the Galaxy S21 series devices (meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 FE users are still waiting for it), which brings One UI 5 software, new features and user interface.
Several Galaxy devices have already grabbed the November 2022 security patch, while, it came too late for the Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone lineup, however, you should install it as soon as it arrives on your device.
How to update
At first, visit your Galaxy device’s “System Settings,” once done, scroll down and tap the “Software update” tab, followed by the “Download and install” button.
Galaxy S21
The South Korean tech giant introduced the Galaxy S21 smartphone lineup in early 2021 with Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 processors for different markets. Out of the box, the device came pre-loaded with Android 11 and later upgraded to Android 12 OS.
At the Galaxy S22 series launch event, the company announced that the Galaxy S21 series will be getting four generations of major firmware upgrades. This means the Galaxy S21 will also get the Android 14 and Android 15 OS upgrades.

We have already started hearing about the upcoming Android 14 operating system as Google apparently working on it internally. It’s expected that the Developer Preview of 14th Android may release in February, followed by Public Beta sometime in May next year.

For security enhancement, the Korean firm has fixed over 60 related issues and exposures. These include 5 Critical and 35 High levels of CVEs from Google’s Android operating system and 23 Galaxy-specific SVEs that were affecting One UI apps and services.
Besides these, Samsung does not bring any notable new features or changes with this update. Both these foldables recently grabbed the big One UI 5.1 update and their another feature-rich One UI 5.1.1 software is on the way.
Last year, Samsung brought the Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 software with a lot of new features to make large-screen easy to use. A similar update is coming this year as well but there is no sign of Android 13L so far. It seems like One UI 5.1.1 will also rely on Android 13.
Moreover, the company is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 software out of the box. The next-gen foldable phones may debut in August this year, whereas the One UI 5.1.1 may be available for older Galaxy devices a month later of launch.
