Samsung March 2023 update: Galaxy users can’t wait anymore

Samsung appears to have dealt with Google on the rollout of the latest Android security patches. Nah, it can’t happen, I just joking as it’s the 6th of the month and Samsung has not yet released the March 2023 security update for our Galaxy devices.

Google rolls out newer Android patch updates to Pixel phones on the first Monday of the month. No matter, if the first Monday lands on the 1st or 7th, the Android maker manages to begin the distribution. However, we have noticed a slight delay in Samsung’s rollout in the past few months.

This year, Samsung published the security bulletin just after getting it detailed on the Android support page by Google. So far, any Galaxy device has not received the latest March 2023 security patch, which is anticipated by numerous consumers.

In February, Samsung was busy sending the Android 13-based One UI 5.1 update to Galaxy consumers. The update comes with great new features and the February 2023 security patch is also included. One UI 5.1’s rollout is still underway, and the company seems busy with that.

Post-One UI 5.1 installation, various Galaxy device users reported having issues like battery drain and overheating. Naturally, the users are now waiting for the March OTA, which could fix the severe problems on affected Galaxy models.

Samsung firmware updates usually bring more than that Google brings to Pixel smartphones. The company includes fixes for One UI vulnerabilities in the software system as well as stock applications. Therefore, each major and minor software update by Samsung becomes a big deal.

We hope Samsung may arrive back on track soon. We want to see Galaxy devices getting the latest software updates ahead of rivals such as Pixel smartphones. A slight delay in the release timeline doesn’t matter a lot in smartphones but appears like a backfire on the OEM.
