Just yesterday, almost all recent Samsung flagship phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, S21, S21 FE, S20, and S20 FE, grabbed this update. But why Samsung delayed sending One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra?

Samsung Note 20 One UI 5.1

Is the company facing any issues sending the update for the Note 20 models or the update is not completely developed for them? Currently, we don’t know what is the reason behind the delay, hopefully, Samsung will soon dispatch it.

On the other hand, Samsung started to test the One UI 5.1 update for all these mentioned Galaxy devices soon after the release of One UI 5.0 for them. However, it started testing the update for Note 20 a bit late.

It seems like Samsung is still engaged in ensuring the stability of the One UI 5.1 update builds for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra devices. We hope, the company to release the update in the next few hours or in a couple of days.

Galaxy Note 20 latest update:

Currently, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users are operating the February 2023 Android security patch. It’s worth mentioning that these devices were the first to grab it. It installs fixes for over 50 privacy and security-related vulnerabilities for the customers’ privacy enhancements.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are two of Samsung’s top-end flagship devices. The company launched both flagships in 2020, featuring pro-grade hardware capabilities. Meanwhile, there’s bad news for consumers of Galaxy S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, about Jio True 5G support in India.

According to our research, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G smartphones don’t support Jio True 5G network in India. Jio deploying a 5G network with Stand Alone architecture in India to offer powerful features like low latency, 5G voice, Edge computing, and network slicing.

Stand Alone 5G is a software-centric approach, which requires smartphone vendors to release a special firmware update for the device to unlock the 5G network support. Meanwhile, vendors are somewhat cheating here with older models taking advantage of the “hardware limitation” phrase.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones are equipped with Samsung’s own made Exynos 990 (7nm) processor. Both of these devices are sold as 5G capable phones in the country, but now, consumers have to switch their carrier to Airtel or forget about 5G.

Jio confirmed to SammyFans that the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is not listed to feature True 5G support in India. The OEM can not release 5G-supported firmware updates due to application processor limitations.

By the way, it doesn’t mean your device won’t run the 5G network at all. You can switch to another carrier (such as Airtel), which is featuring non-standalone architecture. It doesn’t require any software update or support from the smartphone manufacturer but might lag behind Jio’s True 5G in some cases.

Galaxy S20 FE supports Jio True 5G, here’s why

Samsung released the Galaxy S20 FE 4G with the same Exynos processor as the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series in India. Later on, the company brought a 5G-supported Galaxy S20 FE, which uses Snapdragon 865 processor. Jio True 5G is supported on this device and users can enjoy the benefits post-SA update.
