Back in February, Google released the Android 14 Developer Preview 1 (DP2 on Mar. 8) to eligible Pixel phones. However, Samsung’s One UI 6 Beta testing is expected to start by the end of July or early August, followed by a Stable release later this year. Read more → Everything about One UI 6.0

The Galaxy flagships debuted after the S21 series are eligible for four major OS upgrades. At the same time, select mid-range phones, starting with Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73, are also eligible to get up to four generations of Android upgrades and five years of patches.

The Galaxy S20 series and Note 20 series smartphones are no longer eligible for any major firmware upgrade. The same case is for the Galaxy Z Flip (LTE/5G), S20 FE (LTE/5G), Z Fold 2 5G, Note 10 Lite, S10 Lite, A51, and A71 devices.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE smartphone

It’s worth mentioning that all of the devices have received the Android 13-based One UI 5 as their third major update. As per the company’s software update policy, Samsung devices mentioned above (below in list format) won’t be receiving the next big Android update – Android 14.

  • Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Flip – LTE/5G
  • Galaxy S20 FE – LTE/5G
  • Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G
  • Galaxy Note 10 Lite
  • Galaxy S10 Lite
  • Galaxy A51 and A71

If you want to experience the upcoming Android 14-based One UI 6 software, upgrading to the Galaxy S23 is the best option for now. In the second half, Samsung will release the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 devices, which will also be getting One UI 6 in priority.

Samsung Theme Park is a great application, which is available on select Galaxy devices through the Good Lock suite. As Android 14 development continues, hopes are high for the next One UI version and we advise Samsung to integrate Theme Park customization tools into One UI 6.0.

Follow our socials → Google News, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook

Theme Park is an app, that belongs to the Good Lock customization suite. The application makes it possible to create a custom theme that consists of wallpaper, keyboard, quick panel, icon, and volume panel. Combining Theme Park tools, Samsung can swiftly make One UI 6.0 the ultimate customizable software.

Theme Park tools should be a part of One UI 6:

Since Good Lock is not available for all Galaxy models and all regions/markets, Theme Park can only be used on a limited scale. At the same time, some users are either unaware of the Good Lock tool or don’t want to enter into the hurdle of creating a custom theme.

Using the Theme tool of the Theme Park app, you can set the wallpaper and get the color combination for the theme. It is somehow similar to the Color Palette but allows you to manually select a main color and a style, which affects the overall color and mood of the theme.

The Keyboard customization tool of Theme Park is also useful. It brings fruitful features such as personalization of Key style, and tap color as well as allows you to use an image on all keys. If you spend some free with the Keyboard tool, you can create give an epic look and feel to it.

Quick panel can’t be customized in the One UI software, except for changing colors derived from the Material You palette. Using the Theme Park app, users can give different color shades to the elements of the Quick panel such as primary toggles, brightness slider, and text as well as blur level of background.

Icon customization is the greatest feature of the Theme Park application. There is a huge directory of shapes that can be altered with One UI’s default icon shapes. Moreover, the tool also lets users pick their preferred color for the icons and background tray.

Samsung iOS icons

One UI 5.1 removed Material You theming from the Volume panel to deliver a better user experience. However, it doesn’t mean the Volume panel can’t be customized as the Theme Park app is here to help us. However, we can just assign different colors to the interface elements.

One UI 6

Samsung may begin the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 Beta testing by August 2023. The Galaxy S23 series is ready to become the first Galaxy to run the new One UI 6 software, however, the company is expected to release the official version later this year. We want Samsung to integrate Theme Park tools into the next One UI version.

Since the beginning, Samsung’s One UI software greatly evolved and is defined as the best Android skin. Apple, which is the company’s biggest rival in key markets still has a lead in animation and visuals, hence, Samsung has a great opportunity with One UI 6.0.

Samsung One UI 6.0 Animation & Visuals

System animation and visuals are the key factors of user interface and user experience. Powerful hardware aside, if the phone doesn’t have smoother animation and lag-free transition features, it can never be counted as a competitor in the market.

The One UI 6.0 software will be based on the new Android 14 operating system. Pixel phones with stock Android also offer great system animation and elegant visual effects. Samsung should take benefit of the power of Android OS and make it just amazing with further refinements.

With the One UI 5.1, the South Korean tech giant has greatly refined the animation and visuals on Galaxy devices. One UI 5.1 is an Android 13-based software but has radical improvements over the initial One UI 5 version. With a generation gap, consumers are hoping for big from Samsung and it should do it too.

Samsung One UI

Despite being an unstable software system, OnePlus’ OxygenOS also feels smooth like butter. The company plays cleverly by making the most interactive things best to reduce attention from other limitations. The visuals of OxygenOS are nice and the animations are a close rival to One UI.

Samsung will not participate in Google’s Android 14 Public Beta program, while the One UI 6 Beta is likely to begin this August. In 2022, the company may take about two months in the adoption and distribution of the next software to Galaxy devices.

A slightly delayed software update would be considered the best gift instead of an early rollout packed with bugs and problems. Samsung should take its time to work on animation and visuals, and redefine the definition of user experience on Galaxy devices.

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 series will be the first to get the One UI 6.0 Beta update. Later on, the company will expand the Beta testing program to the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 series along with the upcoming and older foldable smartphones.

The Stable One UI 6.0 update would start rolling out in October 2023, with Samsung may take about three months to gain the stability milestone through its Beta testing. In case the company manages to begin the Beta program by August, we may see the official One UI 6.0 rollout by October.

Last year, the South Korean tech giant started the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 Beta program in early August. With a quite short delay, the company managed to deploy the official One UI 5.0 firmware in late October and rapidly expanded to several models within a month.

We believe, Samsung may not make us wait too long for the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 Beta preview. Timeline aside, the Beta program may be available for a number of Galaxy devices, with some mid-range Galaxy A and M series would be included.

Samsung One UI 6.0 Beta Galaxy Devices:

  • S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra
  • S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra
  • Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4
  • S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra
  • Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3

Note:

  • Availability may be limited to select markets.
  • The list is based on the previous rollout and Samsung’s software strategy.
  • Select A and M series phones may also get access to the One UI 6.0 Beta program.

Samsung will introduce the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 software version for Galaxy devices this year. I can confirm that the next version will be One UI 6 as there’s no rocket science behind this. One UI is a mature software and the company is strictly maintaining the naming strategy.

One UI 6.0

Flagship Samsung devices ranging from the Galaxy S21 series to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 foldables are eligible for the One UI 6.0 update, based on Android 14. In addition, there are a lot of Galaxy handsets launched with Android 12, which are also on the list!

One UI 6 is becoming the biggest reason, which is forcing me to purchase the S23 Ultra, but, I’ll continue using my S22 Ultra as a daily driver. Upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be highly fruitful for me, since, Samsung won’t be taking much time to expand One UI 6 Beta for older models.

One UI 6.0 Features

All the Security and Privacy related features and improvements of Android 14 will be included with the One UI 6.0 update. Samsung doesn’t rely on Google’s Android when it comes to the user interface as Galaxies offer the best and clean user experience with One UI.

We are too away from the One UI 6’s tentative development timeline, but, Samsung should now work on app icons, stock launcher, quick settings panel, and notification panel. Most users want a radically renovated user interface in One UI, as it’s continuing with refinements and refinements.

Samsung One UI 6.0

One UI 6.0 Eligible devices

In the Galaxy Z series, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are eligible for the new OS. In the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S23 series will get One UI 6 first, however, it will also be rolled out to the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S21 series (FE included).

Samsung offers two major Android upgrades to every Galaxy device (from Galaxy A, M, and F lineups). It means, if your device launched with Android 12 out of the box, it will surely get the Android 14 upgrade. Some A series devices are also eligible for three OS upgrades, hence, check the complete list below:

List of Samsung Galaxy devices eligible for Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update

One UI 6.0 Release Date

Within 2022, the company rolled out the One UI 5.0 update for almost all eligible Galaxy models. And February became a great month for flagship Galaxy devices that received the One UI 5.1 feature drop update. It’s difficult to commit release date of One UI 6.0, while the timeline should be early October.

Post completion of the One UI 5.0 rollout, Samsung promised that it will further strengthen its collaboration with chip makers (i.e. Qualcomm) and Google. As promised, this year, the company will try to deploy One UI even faster and more reliable software for Galaxy.

One UI 6.0 features will reveal throughout the Beta testing, expected to start in August this year, while our wishlist consists of all the features we want Samsung to bring with its Android 14 update this year.

Google kicked off the Android 14 Developer Preview in February and the final release will hopefully happen by August. Samsung has neither joined Google in Preview nor it’s going to be a part of Android 14’s Public Beta testing.

Follow our socials → Google News, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook

Samsung is expected to release the first One UI 6.0 Beta by August, which will reveal the user interface and features as well. Since there’s a long gap between March and August, we will continue to gather inputs on what could come.

Samsung One UI 6.0 Features Wishlist

Samsung One UI 6.0 Features Wishlist

Here’s our wishlist of One UI 6.0 features:

Seamless Updates [A/B Partition]

It has been a long time since Galaxy consumers are demanding the seamless updates feature. Google Pixel phones adopted this tech years ago, which radically reduces the shutdown time while installing firmware updates. Hopefully, Galaxy devices will get support for seamless updates or the S24 series.

Redesigned user interface elements

The original One UI version was first launched in 2019 and the company introduced a total of five generations excluding point versions. Eye-catching user interface plays a key role in user experience but Samsung seems to be only focussing on refinements, which should change with One UI 6.

Pixel Dynamic Colors

Themed Icons and even the Color Palette feature don’t look appropriate on Galaxy devices. Samsung needs to make significant changes in this aspect as most of the users are not satisfied with One UI’s Material You version. Pay attention, Pixel comes with way better Material You integration than the Galaxy.

Refined animations and visual effects

The Korean tech giant brought new visual effects and improved animations with the One UI 5.0. But when compared to Apple iOS, it appears Samsung is far behind in optimization. Flagship phones undoubtedly offer great animations but Apple manages to offer the same experience on all models.

One UI Boot animation

Samsung is the world’s biggest smartphone vendor and the biggest spreader of Android operating system. With the One UI 5.1, it has added One UI animation which appears at the time of app optimization. However, Samsung One UI 6.0 should bring One UI’s native boot animation to Galaxy devices.

Tabular icons and large folder

MIUI 14 introduces tabular icons and large folder features (via RPRNA) as part of renovating the home screen experience. Large folders became part of almost every Android skin developed by China-based vendors, however, the tabular icons are a step ahead. Samsung should consider bringing such kind of home screen tweaks.

Multi user profiles

Multi-user profiles feature was sadly ditched from the One UI 5.0 due to unknown reasons. We hoped One UI 5.1 could bring back the function but it didn’t happen. There’s no input on why the company is not bringing this useful feature to Galaxy devices, and we hope it will come back with One UI 6.0

Native app lock

Norton app lock has over 5 million installations on Google Play Store and most of the users are from Samsung and Google. Chinese ROMs such as MIUI bring a native app lock feature in order to allow users to give another protection shield on certain apps to share the phone with others hassle-free.

Leaving Google aside, One UI 6.0 should include the native app lock feature so users won’t have to get any third-party applications from app markets. Secure folder works pretty well, but an app lock’s usability is far away from this limited function.

Passkeys for native apps

Dashlane confirmed that its native app will get passkeys support following the final release of Android 14. Since the One UI 6.0 will be based on Android 14, we hope, Samsung won’t leave this feature behind or keep limited to flagship devices or certain models.

Emoji wallpaper generator

Android 14 DP2 brings an excellent new feature, allowing Pixel users to create wallpaper based on emojis. There’s a new emoji lab added in the native wallpaper section, where user can pick up their preferred emojis and combine them in an image background to create wallpaper. One UI 6.0 should bring this feature to Samsung phones.

We will continue to add more features to our wishlist. If you have your own expectations with One UI 6, feel free to share them with us through the details given below.

One UI 6.0 Roadmap, based on Android 14

In February, Google initiated the journey of Android 14 through Developer Preview 1 release. Further, the company released the second Developer Preview update on March 8 and the new OS would enter Public Beta testing by the end of next month or early April.

The search engine giant hopes to start Public Beta testing of Android 14 nearly April, while Samsung may not join the party among others. Every year, Samsung’s Android testing for Galaxy begins nearby the stable release of the new operating system.

Android 14 Roadmap DP2

Follow our socials → Google News, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook

Android 14 may get three major Beta version updates before reaching the Platform Stability 1 mark. There is also a possibility of some incremental/hotfix updates between the major Beta releases. If everything goes perfectly, Google may be able to deliver Android 14 by August this year.

One UI 6.0 Roadmap [Prediction]

Like the One UI 5, Samsung should start the One UI 6 Beta testing on the Galaxy S23 before August 2023. The Galaxy S23 series will be the first to receive the Android 14 Beta firmware, possibly in seven countries including the US, South Korea, India, Germany, the UK, Poland, and China.

It’s likely that the Galaxy S23 series may reach the stability milestone in three to four Beta builds, however, time will tell. Android 13-based One UI 5 was released on October 24, however, we predict, the company may start the rollout of the new One UI 6 in early October.

Samsung One UI 6

All flagships will get updated within 2023

Apart from the Galaxy S23 series, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will stay much time on the Android 13 operating system. The company will surely finish the One UI 6 deployment before 2023 ends, for all the eligible Galaxy phones and tablets. Check the eligible device list, below:

One UI 5.1 update is available for several Galaxy models and Samsung is continuously expanding the enhancements to more Galaxies. Ahead of the major Android 14 update, the One UI 5.1 feels like an appetizer, but I hope the One UI 6.0 would be excellent!

Battery widget arrived too late but brings a bit of satisfaction as part of cosmetic changes on the home screen. One UI 5 update brought a gradient appearance to system app icons, which should be further refined with the next major OS, and the themed icon feature needs work too.

The visual effects and system animations part got greatly enhanced, but Galaxy users now want something eye-catching. Overall, the One UI 5.1 update feels like a supplement to the original One UI 5 as it has improvements and some new features, that were showcased for One UI 5.

One UI 6 would be excellent

We already created our wishlist for One UI 6.0 features, which consists of some of the most demanded and necessary stuff. For the past few years, the company just brought improvements and software refinements that are necessary but the lack of innovation hurts.

The One UI 6.0 software should revolutionize the Color Palette and Themed Icons feature for user-centric personalization. For privacy and security, support for an in-built app lock is quite necessary and the multi-user profiles feature would be the cherry on the cake.

Samsung was the vendor which taught the Android world the lessons of innovations and creative features. Over the past few years, it has been noticed that the company is not taking any kind of risk to maintain its reputation, which is a great point but it’s helping rivals to grow further.

The same case in the software department. In the One UI 5 iteration, we’ve seen Samsung copying Apple’s text extraction feature, followed by the battery widgets. Apple will require years to rival Samsung in innovation, but it makes us cry seeing iOS features coming to One UI years after a wait.

So overall, One UI 5.1 features are great, but we hope, Samsung will do some home work on the One UI when it begins developing the Android 14 skin. What do you think, is there any feature in your wishlist for the One UI 6? Let us know through social media.

Millions of Galaxy devices have already upgraded to the Android 13 operating system, but, Samsung consumers have now started to discuss the Android 14 update. Pay attention, Galaxy devices eligible for a more major OS upgrade might get One UI 5.1.1 as well, based on Android 13, before v14.

In early February, Google kicked off Android 14 on the Developer Preview channel, with the 2nd build launches this month. April and May would be going to the months of Android 14’s Public Beta rollout, followed by Platform Stability could be reached in June / July.

Different non-Google smartphones would get access to the Android 14 Developer Preview as soon as it expands as Public Beta for Pixel devices. However, Samsung won’t participate in Google’s activities as it runs its own One UI Beta testing for Galaxy handsets.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The current One UI 5.0 is based on Android 13, whereas the last year’s One UI 4.x versions are based on the Android 12 operating system. Accordingly, the company may introduce the One UI 6.0 software for Galaxy devices, which will be based on the Android 14 OS.

Samsung is committed to bringing up to four generations of Android plus One UI and five years of security updates. Thanks to this solid policy, we have a pretty clear idea of which Galaxies will be receiving the next Android version upgrade.
