Samsung makes One UI 5.1 official, Galaxy S23 features coming to older devices
Samsung today officially announced the expansion of One UI 5.1 update for older Galaxy devices. Introduced with the Galaxy S23 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in 2023, the One UI 5.1 update will start to roll out worldwide for older Galaxy devices.

The Korean tech giant has recently started pushing Android 13-based One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and Galaxy S20 series in some countries. Samsung Expert RAW feature is now available directly as part of the Galaxy Camera app so Galaxy users now have more flexibility to create professional-quality photos. Simply select “More” when taking a photo to take a high-quality photo in raw format.
Enhanced AI Based Photo Remaster
AI-based Photo Remaster now automatically improves poor detail in images by boosting brightness, fine-tuning details, and color correction, even in backlit scenes. It also removes unwanted shadows and reflections from the entire photo.
New Gallery Features
The search filter improvements also make it easier than ever to find photos and create shared family albums in the Photos app. Just need to tap a face in a picture to discover more images, while the Photo Album app searches the faces of loved ones for recommendations for the family photo album.
Widgets
A new dynamic weather widget analyzes current conditions and creates custom designs that reflect the climate. Furthermore, Modes and Routines have been expanded to support custom wallpapers, ringtones, touch sensitivity, and fonts, which can personalize specific activities for added convenience.
One UI 5.1 also improves the Smart Suggestions widget, by adding the ability to recommend Spotify tracks and playlists based on user activity, such as road trips or relaxing music.
Expanded Multi Control
You can now enjoy a connected ecosystem across mobile and PC with extended multi-control between Galaxy Book and smartphone. This allows users to share the Galaxy Book’s mouse, keyboard, or trackpad not only with Galaxy tablets but now with select Galaxy phones, allowing them to seamlessly copy and paste and move images from one device to another. Also, allows dragging and dropping across devices – as if they were a single device.
Additionally, Link to Windows lets you browse using Samsung Internet on mobile phones, to continue browsing the same pages on your PC seamlessly. These pages can also be opened from one device to another.
To be mentioned, Multi Control is available only on select Galaxy phones, Galaxy Tabs, and Galaxy Books. When we increase the (+) value, the light balance effect is adjusted to make the overall image brighter and more clear, while we increase the (-) value, the overall image becomes darker such as casting a shadow.
The Light Balance function is currently only available for photo editing and will be soon supported by Video Editor.
Sharpness Improvement
Sharpness is a feature that edits blurry photos to make them sharper. Although it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with light, it does involve the power of light.
Brighten the brightest point of the photo that bringing out the texture, which has the effect of sharpening the photo. The sharpness enhancement applies to photo editing and video editing alike.
New Clarity Feature
Clarity is a new feature of the latest One UI 5.1 update. Alike the Sharpness function, the Clarity function applies the effect of lighting rather than changing it. This function makes bright areas of an image slightly brighter and dark areas slightly darker to enhance the texture or three-dimensional effect of the image. In One UI 5.1, Clarity is only available for photo editing, but the company is planning to release this feature to the Video Editor.
