Obviously, the lock screen widgets section does not have as much variety as the home screen has, but these are enough to get information at glance. Samsung offers you seven essential lock screen widgets and you can choose which you want to see on the lock screen and which you don’t. Also, you can reorder them so you get the more important information first.
Furthermore, these widgets appear on the lock screen according to your phone’s theme. For example, if you are using a dark theme, the widgets will appear in dark, and when using a light theme, these will appear on a light background.
iOS 16 Lock screen widgets:
Apple has completely changed the lock screen in iOS 16, introducing all kinds of customization options to help you make your lock screen unique. iOS 16’s lock screen wallpaper customization options are really cool, but what really sets it apart is the option to add widgets to the lock screen.
The new software has two different widget boxes that you can edit according to your preferences. You can change the widgets above the time and add up to four different widget boxes below.
You can put up to four single block widgets, or two large block widgets, or choose one single block widget and two small block widgets. Meanwhile, if you prefer a clean look, you can also choose to use it without widgets.
One UI 5.0 vs iOS 16 – Lock screen widgets:
When you add widgets on your Samsung One UI 5.0 lock screen, they don’t show on the screen, you simply tap once on your clock area and they will be shown up. Thus, offering you a clear look at the screen as well as giving important information at glance.

Apple Battery Widget
Since Apple has already brought the battery status widget to iPhones, it has mastered the feature with generation improvements. In the latest iOS 16, there are three different battery widgets available on iPhones including a square (single), a rectangular (list), and a circular (4).
Samsung Battery Widget
Samsung’s battery widget introduces two choices for Galaxy consumers including the circular and square box styles. Both of the choices let you display the battery status of up to 8 devices including the smartphone itself. By default, the widget expands for 4 devices, which can be further enlarged for eight.
Comparison
One UI 5.1’s circular battery widget doesn’t have any background layer as all circles are arranged independently. On the flip side, iOS 16’s circular widget has a transparent layer so it can be clearly visible in any kind of wallpaper or home screen theme.
The One UI 5.1’s circular widget shows the device icon and percentage inside the circle, whereas the iOS takes additional space beside for percentage.
Talking about the second style, the rectangular widget of One UI 5.1 looks way better than the iOS 16’s. It has a solid background layer with an intuitive interface as well as a header, device icon, battery percentage bar, and text.
On the other hand, iOS 16’s rectangular battery widget keeps the same transparent background layer and occupies much space on the home screen. One UI can show the status of up to 8 devices, while iOS is limited to just 4.
