The One UI software doesn’t have the ability to alter the design or shape of the app and function icons. It becomes a disappointing thing for Galaxy consumers, but we have a cool way so you can turn app icons from a big hidden directory to choose from.

How to activate hidden customizer

First, open the Good Lock app, followed by the Theme Park application (if you don’t have these apps already, download them from Galaxy Store). Do note that the installation of Good Lock is necessary to get access to Theme Park, so don’t waste time bypassing steps.

Theme Park is the only way to alter icon design on Samsung Galaxy devices. One UI doesn’t allow you to easily change the shape, style, or layout of app icons, but Good Lock makes it possible. Theme Park could bring you what you want, but, it doesn’t work perfectly on all apps.

How to apply iOS-shaped icons

To apply iOS-shaped icons on the One UI interface, open the Theme Park application from Apps Screen. Navigate to the Icon tab through the bottom bar and hit that interactive “+ Create New” button.

Apart from the ability to download Iconpack through Galaxy Themes, the interface allows you to create your own iconpack using Shape, Icon Color, Tray color, and Size functions.

The pre-selected shape is the original One UI icon shape, while the second is circular, which looks a lot similar to Google’s stock Android experience. For iOS-shaped icons, you have to select the “fourth” option, and voila!

The large icons preview interface will display nine app icons so you can customize further before applying finally. After customizing the Icon color, Tray color, and Size, you have to hit the “↓” Download icon and give a name.

Put the name as per your preference and tap OK. After short processing, you will be redirected to the page from where you began the customization journey where you should see your own created Iconpack.

Now, tap on the icon pack you just created to apply to your phone’s by-default settings. Finally, hit the “Apply” toggle and let the Theme Park do magic and turn the shape of the original One UI icons to iOS-inspired.

Samsung offers tons of features for its Galaxy devices to customize almost everything, even a small lock icon on the lock screen. Currently, Samsung is busy in rolling out its mature software One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 for eligible Galaxy devices. On the other hand, Google already started testing Android 14 and Apple releases iOS beta updates throughout the year, so why is Samsung lagging behind with One UI?

If we talk about Apple, then it pushes regular iOS beta updates so that users can get an error-free service. The company gives its users the opportunity to test the upcoming new iOS features before the stable release throughout the year. Samsung should also follow the footprints of Apple to provide a regular One UI beta update for testing new features.

Samsung One UI iOS beta

Obviously, it is difficult for Samsung to roll out a One UI beta like Apple’s iOS beta as Google releases only one major update in a year. And based on that new Android version, Samsung initiates testing its One UI Beta which lasts only for a short period of time.

But Samsung can make some significant changes according to its own so that when a new Android OS stable will arrive, it can be easily deployed by Samsung for Galaxy devices. Samsung can also begin One UI beta update along with Google so whenever the Korean tech giant delivers its new custom skin then users can get a bug-free and better experience.

Samsung can start the One UI beta program only for limited flagship models including Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3, also in the limited beta testing countries.

Samsung One UI iOS beta

The question is why should Samsung run iOS beta like One UI beta for a whole year? Is there any benefit from this? Yes, it has benefits. If Samsung runs the One UI beta throughout the year, it will be able to provide a bug-free service through its stable updates as well as enhance the stability.

Most importantly, Galaxy users can enjoy the upcoming features of the new Android OS ahead like Pixel devices. As of now, Pixel devices have started enjoying the features of Android 14 while Samsung will start testing these features in August or September and the stable release will be in October or November.

Will you buy a Samsung Galaxy if it run iOS?

Counterpoint Research published a new report on the top 10 best-selling phones of 2022 that completes with two models from Samsung and the rest from Apple. This report is like a danger siren for the Galaxy maker as the only two spots are secured by cheap phones!

According to Counterpoint’s “top 10 best-selling phones for 2022” report, Apple grabbed whopping eight spots, and the remaining two spots were taken by Samsung with Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A03. Apple’s iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone of last year.

Samsung

The report has nothing exciting for Galaxy fans as Samsung took two spots on the list with the entry-level Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A03. Interestingly, Counterpoint’s best-selling smartphones list has just two 4 G-supported models, which are from Samsung, while others are 5G-capable from Apple.

Similar to the legendary Galaxy A12, its sequel – Galaxy A13 – continued to perform well, offering attractive specifications for its price (<$250). The Galaxy A03 was the most affordable smartphone on the list, featuring a chipset supplied by UNISOC.

Apple

Last year, the iPhone maker became the first OEM to capture sweeping eight spots in the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones. The top-10 list contributed 19% of the total global smartphone sales in 2022, the same as in the corresponding previous year.

In 2022, Apple’s iPhone 13 became the best-selling smartphone of 2022, contributing 28% of iPhone sales. It was the best-selling smartphone in major markets such as China, the US, the UK, Germany, and France.

After the launch of the iPhone 14 series, the price cuts of the iPhone 13 further drove sales in developing markets. To be noted, the vanilla model’s sales were two times more than that of the Pro Max, 2022’s second best-selling phone.

Samsung and Apple are the biggest rivals in the smartphone industry, fighting for the global crown. Apple has mastery in some aspects such as longer updates support and well-optimized software, while it’s nothing without the help of Samsung for displays.

According to a TheInformation report, there are complicated relationships in the tech industry and then there is the rocky marriage between Apple and Samsung for displays. The former needs cutting-edge displays for iPhones which makes it dependent on Samsung, while it blames Samsung for patent infringement.

An ex-Apple employee revealed how Samsung is concerned to protect its display technology supremacy. The company naturally wishes to keep the biggest rival away from its cutting-edge display technology, by preventing Apple engineers to visit manufacturing facilities.

It’s reported that a team of Apple engineers went to South Korea to meet the Samsung display division’s team in 2017. Instead of a meeting, the company didn’t allow the workers to reach the display manufacturing units and even the office buildings.

Samsung reportedly asked Apple employees to return to their hotel rooms to communicate with their Samsung counterparts remotely. In addition, an incident happened in the past when Samsung was sending millions of LCD displays to Foxconn to be utilized in the Retina version of the iPad mini.

The US tech giant reportedly found a few minor defects in the screens, but Samsung declined to amend them, so Apple had to go ahead and deploy the supplied panels. No doubt, Samsung achieved mastery in display technology, which forces Apple to keep this unhappiest marriage alive.

Samsung is the biggest supplier for Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro panel orders, beating LG Display and China’s BOE. For the next-gen iPhone models, it is reported that the Korean tech giant will have a sweeping order from Apple, thanks to the ultimate OLED panels!

Geekbench is a popular benchmarking platform, which is widely used by smart gadget users. Talking specifically about Geekbench smartphone tests, Apple always beats Android phones including Samsung even with Qualcomm’s most premium application processors.

In a recent development, Geekbench announced a breakthrough in its portfolio, bringing version 6 of the benchmarking platform. As soon as Geekbench 6 went live, people tested their devices and found radically increased differences in single and multi-core scores between Apple and Samsung.

And here began a controversial debate…

Folks over at PhoneArena gathered consumer reports complaining that the Geekbench platform always favors Apple. Even though it is said that the iPhone maker pays Geekbench to defeat rivals, of course, it’s Samsung as Galaxy devices always stand behind iPhones in both single and multi-core tests.

The latest Galaxy S23 Ultra has already outperformed other Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 rivals, thanks to Samsung’s collaboration with Qualcomm for a custom SoC. The device was tested on Geekbench 5 and got defeated by Apple’s latest iPhone 14 Pro (Max), but, the score difference greatly widened in Geekbench 6.

Geekbench 5 scores (rounded up)

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
    • Single-core: 1,600
    • Multi-core: 5,000
  • iPhone 14 Pro
    • Single-core: 1,900
    • Multi-core: 5,500

Geekbench 6 scores (rounded up)

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
    • Single-core: 1,900
    • Multi-core: 5,100
  • iPhone 14 Pro
    • Single-core: 2,500
    • Multi-core: 6,500

As you can see in the rounded-up figures, the benchmark scores different between the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro were way too less compared to the scores on Geekbench 6. Samsung’s latest flagship got just a 6% score boost on the new Geekbench, while the iPhone 14 Pro scores are whopping 21% higher.

Samsung Apple Geekbench 6

Die-hard Apple blog AppleInsider created a giant article defending allegations arising against Apple in the Geekbench controversy. They have even mentioned the incident when Samsung was caught adjusting some Galaxy phones to rank up in Geekbench during GOS throttling issues.

Anyways, it’s undoubtedly true that just benchmark results are not the only aspect of competition between or among phones. There are various factors such as different operating systems, functional/algorithmic codes, and operational mechanisms.

Don’t rely on benchmark scores to pick the best phone for yourself!

Samsung introduced a new battery status widget feature with the new One UI 5.1 software. Sadly, it’s not a new innovation as Apple’s iOS and Pixel’s Android already have such kind of widgets. Well, here we compare the battery widget of Samsung’s One UI 5.1 and Apple’s iOS 16 operating system.

Follow our socials → Google News, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook

Apple Battery Widget

Since Apple has already brought the battery status widget to iPhones, it has mastered the feature with generation improvements. In the latest iOS 16, there are three different battery widgets available on iPhones including a square (single), a rectangular (list), and a circular (4).

Samsung Battery Widget

Samsung’s battery widget introduces two choices for Galaxy consumers including the circular and square box styles. Both of the choices let you display the battery status of up to 8 devices including the smartphone itself. By default, the widget expands for 4 devices, which can be further enlarged for eight.

Battery Widget One UI Vs iOS

Comparison

One UI 5.1’s circular battery widget doesn’t have any background layer as all circles are arranged independently. On the flip side, iOS 16’s circular widget has a transparent layer so it can be clearly visible in any kind of wallpaper or home screen theme.

The One UI 5.1’s circular widget shows the device icon and percentage inside the circle, whereas the iOS takes additional space beside for percentage.

Talking about the second style, the rectangular widget of One UI 5.1 looks way better than the iOS 16’s. It has a solid background layer with an intuitive interface as well as a header, device icon, battery percentage bar, and text.

On the other hand, iOS 16’s rectangular battery widget keeps the same transparent background layer and occupies much space on the home screen. One UI can show the status of up to 8 devices, while iOS is limited to just 4.

Verdict

  • Tied!

Apple’s battery status widget is unquestionably mature, compared to the first version of Samsung’s battery widget. Still, Samsung did a pretty good job when it comes to personalization of the widget and usability with a high amount of devices.

The circular widget of Apple looks better than the One UI, while the rectangular-styled widget of One UI clearly defeats iOS. It’s pretty difficult to make a winner in this comparison, as both have their own specialties and limitations. Well, which one do you prefer? Let us know through social media!

9to5Mac points out that the iPhone 15 Pro CAD files are based on renders given by Apple to factories in Asia to prepare phone cases ahead of launch. It means, the CAD renders show an almost confirmed design of the upcoming flagship iPhone model.

First comes the biggest change in iPhone’s history! The iPhone 15 Pro CAD hints at the death of the lightning port in favor of USB C-Type. Samsung already follows a common charging port strategy and Apple is forced to use a universal connector for iPhones too.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro CAD

Second, the camera bump, which is slightly thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro. It suggests Apple is bringing serious camera upgrades to the iPhone 15 Pro including new sensors or lenses. The camera arrangement seems the same as the predecessors, however, we might be seeing upgraded sensors such as Periscope.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro CAD

The third change is the curvature of the edges, both on the glass and on the metal frame. This time, iPhone 15 Pro’s CAD shows the glass curves slightly around the edges, creating a more seamless transition to the frame to make it easier to handle and reduce accidental touches.

Apple is continuing the Dynamic Island feature on the next iPhone lineup, at least on Pros. The vanilla Pro model may feature the same 6.1-inch display in a slightly smaller body. Still, the design is unconfirmed as everything is based on information reportedly shared by Apple.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro CAD

So, why Apple is making radical changes in 2023 iPhone?

The answer is simple! Samsung is continuously expanding its footsteps in the smartphone industry. After bringing 108MP camera sensors, the company brought a massive 200MP resolution camera with the Galaxy S23 Ultra that makes lossless photography possible.

On the flip side, Apple is far away from making a foldable iPhone as it still thinks the technology is not mature. This August, Samsung will be going to amaze the industry with its next Galaxy Z. Hence, Apple is also joining the race so can’t be criticized as lame.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro uses the world’s brightness display, which peaks at 2000 nits outdoors. Meanwhile, a rumor indicates that Samsung is crafting an even brighter display panel for the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, which could peak up to 2500 nits.

The recently leaked information from two sources hints that Samsung is making a next-gen display panel, which could reach 2500 nits. On February 1st, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has launched by Samsung which uses a 1750 nits display panel, similar to vanilla and Plus.

Meanwhile, the tipster also stated that “And still I dunno it’s M13,” which would be two generations after the M11, which is used in the Galaxy S23 series. Besides, in the quoted Tweet, the source claimed that it “Potentially will be on iPhone 15 Pro Max.”

It’s worth mentioning that the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature a typical maximum brightness of 1000 nits, which increases up to 1600 nits of peak brightness for HDR content, and 2000 nits of peak brightness for outdoor usage.

It is bad to see that the Galaxy flagship line is lagging behind from iPhone even after having its own display manufacturing unit. Everyone expected that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have an, even more, brighter display than the iPhone 14 Pro, but, it didn’t happen.

Since the release of Galaxy S20 in the year 2020, Samsung is introducing an “Ultra” model as the top smartphone in the S line. It seems like Samsung’s big competitor, Apple is also looking to follow the Ultra strategy for its upcoming iPhone 15 series.

Apple announced four devices in its current iPhone 14 lineup, which includes the standard, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max variants. Meanwhile, Bloomberg has recently reported that the US tech is discussing adding another model to the series.

Follow our socials → Google NewsTelegramTwitterFacebook

As per the information, this will be a higher-end smartphone to the iPhone 15 series that would sit atop the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max models and could launch with the ‘Ultra’ branding, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S2x Ultra.

Apple iPhone 15 Ultra

Apple CEO Tim Cook remarked during the company’s recent earnings call that iPhone price hikes are not a problem. He said that iPhone customers can probably be convinced to spend even more, which hints that the company might introduce a more expensive device compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which costs $1,600 for the 1TB storage variant.

CEO Tim Cook at the last earnings call said – “I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in that category“.

Well, the CEO didn’t clearly say that the company would further increase iPhone prices. However, customers can expect a slight increase as Apple has been steadily upgrading the Pro and Pro Max lines to differentiate them from the standard iPhone lineup and will do the same with the iPhone 15 series.

The report further suggests that the iPhone 15 models arriving later this year will also see this difference in tiers with different materials, processors, and cameras. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to get a periscope lens for better optical zoom. It will be interesting to see how the release of these phones affects the Galaxy S23 phones.

Well-known tech YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss has recently posted a camera battle video of Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 Ultra versus the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. After multiple kinds of tests and reviews, the YouTuber announced that the S23 Ultra has a clear victory over the iPhone.

iPhone 14 Pro Max with improved camera capabilities surpassed Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra, but, it’s not the same case with the new Galaxy S23 Ultra. Well, at last, the YouTuber praised Apple’s dominance in video recording, which is still superior on the iPhone 14 Pro Max versus the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The latest Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with a 200MP camera sensor with support of 8K recording at 30 frames per second. This is Samsung’s direct response to Apple for its iPhone 14 Pro Max as the new Ultra has great imaging capabilities to rule throughout the year.
