According to the info, Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A71 devices will get the new One UI 5.1 update on March 21 in Canada. In addition, the firmware will also bring the latest March 2023 security patch to keep the system software secure against various threats.

One UI 5.1 is going to be the last major software update for the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy A71. These four devices launched with Android 10-based One UI 2.1 out of the box and were eligible for three generations of major OS upgrades.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A52 5G was launched in 2021, running the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 pre-installed. This phone is also supported for up to three Android upgrades, and the support is scheduled to end with the release of Android 14 this year.

Samsung’s new One UI 5.1 software is still based on the Android 13 operating system. Over the vanilla One UI 5 version, the 5.1 brings some additional new features such as a battery widget, enhanced Gallery & Camera along with refined performance and fluency.

Due to network compatibility, the Galaxy A72 utilized a downgraded processor compared to its younger sibling, and eventually, the A7x is dead.

Display

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G brings 6.5″ Super AMOED display with HDR 10+ support and 120Hz display. Both have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution.

Camera

Samsung again experimented on the Galaxy A72 by bringing an 8MP telephoto sensor (depth sensor ditched) for the first time in a non-flagship device. Other camera specs include 64MP main camera, 5MP macro camera and 5MP depth lens (A52 only) along with a 32MP selfie shooter.

The Galaxy A52 5G comes with Snapdragon 750G processor [Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 570 & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 570) and Adreno 619 GPU], while the Galaxy A72 uses Snapdragon 720G processor [Octa-core (2×2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver) and Adreno 618 GPU].

Display

With the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 smartphones, Samsung greatly reduced the difference in displays. The former features a 6.5″ Super AMOLED panel, and the latter features a 6.7″ Super AMOLED Plus screen. Other specs remain the same; 120Hz refresh rate, 800 nits brightness, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Camera

On the flip side, the Galaxy A73 5G has 6nm-based Snapdragon 778G 5G chip [Octa-core (1×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 3×2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×1.9 GHz Cortex-A55)  and Adreno 642L GPU].

Experiment failed, device dead

At the Samsung Developer Conference, Samsung launched One UI 5.0 software, designed on top of Android 13 operating system. It’s officially coming to Galaxy S22 series this month, while Galaxy A51 and A71 users have to wait for a few months as flagships are in company’s priority.

The Galaxy A51, A71, A52 and A72 devices are eligible for three Android upgrades, while, Samsung further expanded the OS support to four years, but, for the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 devices. Therefore, the One UI 5.0 is going to be the last fruitful upgrade for the A51 and A71 consumers.
