Google Play Store received this month’s first update on March 2nd. Now, Google started to release version 34.9.11 update to the Play Store app market as part of the 5th release in March 2023.

As always, there’s no changelog for the Google Play Store version 34.9.11 update. However, the company may have added under-the-hood improvements in order to enhance your experience while discovering apps, games and other stuff along with refined download and install functions.

How to update Play Store officially:

  • Open Google Play Store app, hit the Profiles icon to expand the options
  • Tap the 2nd last option entitled “Settings” followed by “About”
  • You’ve reached the destination, finally hit “Update Play Store”

In February 2022, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S22 series smartphones. These premium Galaxy devices feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (widely) or Exynos 2200 (Europe) chipsets. In the software department, the lineup is running Android 13 (One UI 5.0), up from pre-installed Android 12 (One UI 4.1).

On February 1st, the company unveiled the Galaxy S23 series, which runs Android 13-based One UI 5.1 out of the box. Starting February 13, Samsung has begun to release the S23 lineup’s exclusive One UI 5.1 software with its older flagship devices including the S22 series.

Features apart, the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra users are facing different kinds of issues (via PiunikaWeb) with their smartphones such as battery drain, heating and low power efficiency. Users believe that the situation was better before December 2022 patch, which got worse with January 2023 patch.

Among consumers, there are discussions that the battery drain and heating issues are generated on models due to chipset maker differences as well as Samsung Foundry. The Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors are manufactured by Samsung Foundry.

Due to inefficient processes, the system on the chip gets affected by battery consumption issues due to thermal management. Since consumers in some countries such as India are quite satisfied with their Galaxy S22 phone’s battery, the issue is mainly reported spotted on Exynos models.

Samsung S22 S21 One UI 5.1

During Exynos 2200’s internal testing, Samsung faced critical thermal throttling due to the chipset’s inefficiency and additionally powerful GPU, which forced it to reduce clock speed by 0.61Ghz. To bring the world’s most powerful GPU, Samsung partnered with AMD and used Xclipse GPU in the Exynos 2200.

Due to Exynos’ heating and Foundry’s production efficiency issues, Samsung turned to Qualcomm and decided to ditch its self-developed SoC from the Galaxy S lineup. This year, the Galaxy S23 series uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset manufactured by TSMC, worldwide.

We hope Samsung will soon fix battery draining and heating issues on the Galaxy S22 devices through a firmware update. Since hardware issues can’t be fixed with even hundreds of firmware updates, they could be reduced or optimized with code changes.

Due to bad battery life, some Galaxy S22 Ultra users are wondering to upgrade to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is setting new records in efficiency. Meanwhile, it’s bad to hear that the company has not yet completely fixed the battery draining issue on the S22 series.

Are my apps that power hungry ? To where I can’t even get 3 hours of SOT, without having to charge. ABSOLUTELY love the phone but considering upgrading to s23 ultra just because of the battery upgrade. Which I can’t even say it’s worth paying the extra 5-600 dollars for that. from S22Ultra

Mar. 11

Samsung started rolling out March 2023 security update to the Galaxy S22 series. And we have noted different feedback from consumers, with some users having better battery efficiency, while some are still complaining about the drainage issue.

Mar. 4

Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos) users continue to report (1, 2) battery drain issues on their smartphones. Hopefully, the March 2023 security update will bring improvements to battery efficiency as part of fixing the issue.

Feb. 23

After upgrading to the One UI 5.1 software, some Galaxy S22 smartphone users are still facing battery draining and low power efficiency issues. Not only the screen on time, but the battery is also getting more consumed while the screen is off, or not in use.

Feb. 14

Reports suggest that the One UI 5.1 update has not fixed Galaxy S22’s battery-draining problems.

Feb. 13

Samsung pushed the major One UI 5.1 update for several Galaxy devices including the S22 series. It’s now expanding to both Exynos and Snapdragon models, worldwide. Hopefully, the One UI 5.1 update will resolve the battery draining and low power efficiency problems.

Feb. 7

Concerns like abnormal battery drain and low power efficiency continue to emerge (1, 2, 3, 4) on the Galaxy S22 series devices. The company has recently pushed the February patch for select Galaxy models, and we hope, it could fix the battery and heating problems.

I have had the Galaxy S22 (Exynos) for almost a year now and my experience has not been completely satisfactory The battery gives me between 2-3 hours of SOT, and the device’s performance has been quite poor. There are frequent lags, the phone gets very hot, and if l’m playing a game (not a heavy game, for example Brawl Stars) while listening to music with the Galaxy Buds Pro, the music cuts out and the experience ends up being very bad. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you think that if a go to the technical service they can give me a solution?

Feb. 5

Two more Galaxy S22 smartphone users reported having battery drain and overheating issues. According to the first affected user, their S22 heats up in general usage (such as WhatsApp, Twitter), however, the device is already delivering bad battery efficiency.

Second user said that they have fully charged the smartphone and the battery drained by 13% without any usage in the meantime. The user speculates that the Always on Display feature is eating battery heavily, however, there seems a software issue.

Jan. 31

A Galaxy S22 smartphone user said on Reddit that Samsung’s authorized service center can just factory reset the device and recommends waiting for a few days since the battery health is good. It looks like processor issues and buggy software is causing the battery drain and overheating issues.

Jan. 30

Samsung released the 2nd January 2023 firmware update Galaxy S22 series in certain regions but the battery drain and overheating issues continue to emerge. Meanwhile, there are different kinds of workarounds, which has the latest entry of turning off “Adaptive Battery” feature.

  • Open System Settings >> Battery >> Adaptive preferences >> Turn on “Adaptive Battery”

Jan. 28

A Reddit user @lazykryptonian said that the Galaxy S22’s overheating issue is caused because of the chipset’s design and Samsung foundry problems. Further, they added that “Some are much better than others but there’s no control over getting a decent one vs bad.”

Jan. 27

A Galaxy S22 Ultra user claimed that after restricting background activities of unused apps, the battery consumption is greatly reduced. As per the user, the battery consumption before restricting activities was 10% per hour, which is now 2% per hour. You can also try it as a temporary fix.

Jan. 25

Samsung provides you with tips that will show you how to get the best out of your battery in everyday usage and how to look after your battery. The tips are as follows:

  • > Reduce display brightness level
  • > Close, disable, or uninstall unused Apps
  • > Turn off Always On Display (AOD) or set a schedule
  • > Toggle off WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS when not in use
  • > Turn on Power saving mode
  • > Check your device Signal bars

Jan. 24

Some users reported having overheating issues during video calls, as well as on WhatsApp video calls. And amid battery drain controversy, a Galaxy S22 Ultra user said that his phone’s brightness was fading day by day, which could be because of abnormal battery drain.

Jan. 23

Issues like abnormal battery drain and overheating continue to emerge on the Galaxy S22 series devices, with Exynos models being most affected. Consumers complained that the January patch destroyed battery performance and generated heating issues, even in normal usage.

Samsung One UI offers the USB Power Delivery charging pause feature, which pauses battery charging and connects directly to power during gaming. It reduces device heat while using the product and aids in battery management.

If you use the function while the charger is connected to the Galaxy smartphone, it will provide power to play the product and charge the battery.

Samsung USB Charging Pause function

This feature minimizes battery charging and allows most of the power to be supplied only to the running device in order to reduce the impact on the other products such as the battery, due to simultaneous game execution and battery charging app operations while gaming.

How to use it?

You can easily enable and use the Samsung USB Power Delivery Charging Pause feature, firstly you have to install and run the fame after connecting the PD charger. When the USB power Delivery Charging pause function appeared on the screen, you can turn it on at that time. Also, you can turn it on by following the steps mentioned below.

  • Open the Game Launcher app on your Galaxy smartphone
  • Click on the More option
  • Tap on the Games Booster function

Samsung USB Charging Pause function

  • Here, you can see the USB Power Delivery Charing Pause function.
  • Press the toggle to turn it on.

Some Conditions:

The feature is not visible

  • In order to activate the menu of the USB Power Delivery Charging Pause function, the corresponding menu is displayed after connecting the PD charger for the first time. Firstly, connect the charger > Install and run any game > USB Power Delivery charging pause function is displayed.

The feature is visible but it is not activated

  • This function is enabled only when a PD charger is connected. Check whether a normal charger is connected or not, and connect the PD charger.

Activated feature but it is not working

This feature directly supplies power to the devices without charging the battery, so the two conditions must be met at the same time. They are:

  • The game is on: Even if the game is running, if the screen is off or actions other than the game are in progress, such as switching to another screen, the function does not work.
  • When battery charge exceeds 20% with PD charger connected (25W or higher, PPS function support is required). In addition, the battery may charge if a normal charger other than a PD charger is connected, or if the battery charge is below 20%, which is normal.

Supported Devices

  • Galaxy S23
  • Galaxy S23 Plus
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S22

One UI 5.1

On February 1, Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series smartphones that brought the One UI 5.1 firmware out of the box. This new One UI version is an improved variant of Samsung’s first Android 13 skin and offers select new features from the S23 to older models.

What’s new with One UI 5.1?

Similar to the One UI 5.0, Samsung’s new One UI 5.1 version is also based on the Android 13 operating system. Ahead of major switch like Android 14, the company is offering select new features from its topmost flagship lineup to older models such as the Galaxy S and Z.

Changes of One UI 5.1 firmware include a handful of new features including enhancements to the Camera and Gallery apps with the ability to remaster and fine-tune photos saved on your phone. It also brings the ability to access the Expert RAW camera app directly from the stock Camera app.

Last but not least, One UI 5.1 is packed with battery status widgets for the home screen along with a Spotify suggestions option and Settings quick panels. Earlier, the leaked One UI 5.1 changelog listed plenty of new features in detail, which you can check here.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra looks a lot similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Google Pixel 8 Pro renders solidify that Samsung did right. Recently, @Onleaks revealed high-res renders of the Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, flaunting design refreshment and comparatively flatter panel.

Leaked renders revealed that Google’s upcoming Pixel 8 Pro flagship phone may introduce redesigned camera bar and a flat display. The camera bar matches with the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, while all the camera sensors are now placed in a single pill-shaped bar.

Similar to the Pixel 7 Pro, Google’s next flagship phone will have an ultrawide, a wide, and a telephoto sensor, as shown in the leaked renders. However, there’s a new sensor placed beside the LED flash, which remains a mystery at the moment.

Coming to the screen, the Pixel 8 Pro seems to have a flat panel, ditching the legacy of slightly curved sides maintained until the Pixel 7 Pro. Moreover, the display size may be reduced to 6.52 inches along with little thickness reduction.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Renders

Google also follows Samsung’s footsteps by taking design inspiration from the latest Galaxy S23 Ultra for the new Pixel 8 Pro. The Korean tech giant has continued the same rear design as the predecessor, but refinements are noticeable, which became an inspiration for Google.

Not that all, Google may have also liked that Galaxy S23 Ultra display with reduced curve edges, making the Pixel 8 Pro flatter, at least in early renders. Flatter smartphone screen benefits in multiple ways such as enhanced durability, better in-hand feel, and mistouch prevention.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Renders

Reputed brands like Samsung, Apple, and Google believe that radical design changes are not necessary to happen in the smartphone market every year. On the other hand, Chinese brands are introducing new and new design languages instead of focussing on usability improvements.

The company has not launched the Enterprise Edition of the Galaxy S23 Plus, hence consumers have two choices between the Standard and Ultra. The devices come integrated with both Microsoft and Google cloud productivity tools, making working from anywhere simple.

Galaxy S23’s enterprise-focused features, such as Samsung DeX, enable users to connect the device to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for a desktop-like experience. And the S23 Ultra’s massive 12GB RAM and 512 GB of storage enable users to store more video, files, and apps for productivity.

Pay attention, the Galaxy S23 Enterprise Edition also comes equipped with a one-year subscription to Samsung Knox Suite, its built-in security platform that helps provide multi-layered protection against malware, hacking, and other cyber threats.

Timely software updates and support ensure users receive critical OS updates and patches for up to five years, with options for remote support. A two-year availability assurance post-launch allows businesses’ IT teams to test, use and maintain consistency across teams.

Along with the iconic S Pen, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s large 6.8-inch display and 45-watt super fast charging makes it ideal for multitasking and efficiency. The pro-grade 200-megapixel adaptive pixel sensor enables incredible photography and its sophisticated design makes a statement with an eye-catching glass-metal design.

“Businesses need devices that are not only powerful and secure but also easy to use and manage,” said Garry McGregor, Vice President, Mobile Experience Division, Samsung Electronics Australia.
